The Monsoon: Weather Dangers Are Real

Each year, a variety of weather related dangers affect Camp Verde. With the onset of summer a period of extreme heat is typically followed by an influx of moisture leading to daily rounds of thunderstorms and lightning. The heat can be deadly, the lightning can start  wildfires, and the thunderstorms often strike suddenly and with violent force. The time period from June 15th through September 30th has been defined as "The Monsoon."

Lightning strikes, high winds, dust storms, wildfires, flash floodingextreme heat, hail, and road debris cause numerous deaths and injuries along with tens of millions of dollars of damage each year.  Road closures and power and communication outages are also caused by monsoon weather hazards.
