Home MenuTransaction Privilege Tax
Attention All Businesses: The Business Class code for Camp Verde is CE. (It is NOT CV)
The transaction privilege tax rate for the Town of Camp Verde (CE) is 3.65%. For most business classifications, the combined rate for the State of Arizona and Yavapai County is 6.35%. Therefore, the total tax rate within the legal town limits for businesses is 10.0%. The Town of Camp Verde has entered into a joint collection program with the State of Arizona referred to as Program Cities that allows the Arizona Department of Revenue to collect our Transaction Privilege (sales) Taxes.
There are a few exceptions to this rate:
-
Residential (CE-045) and Commercial (CE-213) property rentals are only 2% for Camp Verde (CE). There is no County of State rate for these rentals.
-
There a secondary Hotel/Motel tax which applies to ALL temporary overnight accommodations, including: hotels, motels, RV parks, bed and breakfast, vacation house rentals, etc. Beyond the normal 3.65% Town tax (CE-004), the secondary tax (CE-003) is another 3% on the same total sales amount for an effective overall rate of 13% on all short-term (30 days) stays. This amount would go to the 2% Long-term Residential rate (CE-045) if the occupant stays for 30 days or longer.
-
Single item Retail sales of over $5,000.00 drop the Town tax rate to 1% on the amount over $5,000.00. So the tax on the first $5,000.00 is 3.65% but the remaining value of the item would be taxed at only 1%. It is important to consider that a single item is NOT a single sale or invoice, nor is it a paired group of items (necklace and earrings or coach and love seat). A single item is defined as something that cannot, under normal circumstances, be sold separately. So a tractor with trailer would normally be TWO individual items sold together, with the $5,000 limit calculated on each separate item.
The transaction privilege tax (TPT) is commonly referred to as a sales tax. If you are selling a product or engaging in a service subject to transaction privilege tax, you will most likely need to obtain the state transaction privilege tax (TPT) license from the Arizona Department of Revenue (commonly referred to as a sales tax, resale, wholesale, vendor or tax license) and a transaction privilege tax or business/occupational license from the Town of Camp Verde if your business is based and/or operated in the Town limits.
