Water Distribution installs and maintains all underground water infrastructure and fire protection necessary to deliver potable water to the Town of Camp Verde.

water main breakWater Distribution staff maintains the Town’s water distribution system which begins at the Mongini site. The water is conveyed from the well and tank storage site via gravity feed. Then water flows through distribution mains into storage facilities at Park Verde and Townsite. Water distribution mains have been engineered to use gravity and additional conveyance mechanisms to distribute potable water to the Town’s residents and businesses. Due to the unique geology and elevations of the Town, the water system is complex and requires continuous maintenance of approximately 60 plus miles of water pipes, 2400 isolation valves, 720 fire hydrants, and over 1900 service lines. System maintenance includes water line repairs, service line repairs, fire hydrant inspections, isolation valve inspections, hydrant and valve replacement/repairs, new water service installations, meter upgrades, meter repairs and response to customer service requests.

 Lead Service Line Inventory

waterline diagram

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality through the Environmental Protection Agency is requiring that all communities submit a complete Lead Service Line (LSL) inventory.  The purpose is to identify and document the materials used in service lines that connect water mains to individual properties, specifically focusing on whether they contain lead. The Town is using historical records, maintenance records, and utility mapping to best ascertain what properties are served by what type of service line (i.e. copper, pex, galvanized steel, and pvc). However, the areas of the community that are in the older parts of the community have little to no historical records. As a result, these properties are being labelled “Unknown, Unlikely Lead” to be on the safe side. To date, the Town has dug up approximately 187 service lines and has not found any lead service lines.

Please see the attached notification regarding the Lead Service Line Inventory that was mailed to property owners that own service lines older than 1988 (when the lead ban went into effect) that have not been verified by the Town (637 property owners).
