- Barriers to accessing medical care

Kudos
A resident came into the office to thank the Community Development staff for their compassion, understanding and professionalism while she has been working on obtaining her residential building permit to come into compliance. The resident and her late husband, who passed away several years ago, had been living in an RV for 10+ years on a vacant lot with several structures that had not been permitted. She has been taking the necessary steps as provided to her by staff to come into compliance and has maintained excellent communication with the CD staff on her progress. Again, she and her friend wanted to express their gratitude.

UTILITIES
Meet the Microorganisms Behind Clean Water: Cluster Ciliate!
This month’s spotlight is on the Cluster Ciliate, fascinating microorganisms that thrive in colonies. These “hairy” creatures use their tiny cilia (hair-like structures) to swim and gather food, working together to create currents that pull in organic debris. They can even change shape based on their environment, stretching or compressing to adapt and survive.
Fun Facts:
- Cluster Ciliates reproduce through binary fission, splitting into two ciliates in a quick and efficient process.
- They communicate using chemicals, coordinating their movements to optimize feeding and survival strategies.
- By helping regulate bacterial populations, they play a critical role in nutrient cycling and maintaining balance in natural ecosystems.
Want to learn more about Cluster Ciliates and other microorganisms? Visit our Bacteria of the Month page for more fascinating insights.
